Images of the Finished Sculpture
After undergoing a double mastectomy from a breast cancer diagnosis, there is always the underlying possibility it will return. The cancer becomes that ghost-like creature of the night, is it there or isn’t it? On the outside, she is resolute to continue living her life to the fullest. Even the dandelion coming up through the crack in the sidewalk speaks the same language of resilience and courage.
The length of her path is bordered with bright green grass which beckons her onward. Despite the deep fear within, you can see the determined resolve in her eyes. Keep going, never let anything negative affect your progress, you got this!
This sculpture is made of low-fire terracotta clay and decorated with underglazes and stains.
