The start of a new year is always a great reason to start on a new project, or in my case return to something that has been missing in my life for decades.

My mother was a lover of fashion and sewed many of her dresses (and mine) when I was growing up. Often I would tag along on a trip to the fabric store and get lost amongst the tables of fabric and ric-rac as she combed through pattern books. McCall, Simplicity and Vogue were often her favorites.
Eighteen months ago (October of 2015), I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The months that followed were a whirlwind of phone calls, doctors, and decisions.
