Backyard Clay Chicken, Gladine

Backyard clay chickens have their own personalities and Gladine is no different. She is more of an introvert but can also interact well with others. She gathers her strength when she goes off on her own, searching out treasures in the garden or compost pile. She returns to the flock, happy to cluck away with her other fine, feathered friends.

The primary tools I use in creating each piece are my hands. After the bisque firing, each chicken gets multiple layers of underglaze before going through its final firing. Finally, each receives a light sanding – what chicken doesn’t like a dust bathe?! – to create a smooth bottom.

All my ceramic products are handmade in small batches, often sold as one-of-a-kind products.

Dimensions (LWH):

6” x 2.5” x4”
