About Rebecca & This Site

Rebecca Gerendasy, Ceramic Artist

Background:

I’m a lifelong creator, and clay is my first love. I majored in clay sculpture as an undergraduate. After graduation I became a video journalist, while maintaining a studio practice for many years. In my 30s, while working full‑time in TV news, I earned a Master of Arts in Art and Consciousness—a deep dive into the universe of creativity. After leaving the news business and working as an independent filmmaker, I returned to clay full time.

For the past eight years I’ve worked in my studio making hand‑built functional and sculptural pieces, guided by the same curiosity that first drew me to the material in my teens. I’m inspired by my surroundings, world events, and human nature. Often whimsical, my pieces look for the magic in the everyday and bring it to life with color and surface illustration.

I hope my clay pieces resonate deeply with viewers and create a memorable moment.
