Winter Warmers Invitational and Juried Cup Show…

Hello,
Two of my mugs were accepted into the Good Earth Pottery’s annual juried show in Bellingham, WA! The show runs this month and can be viewed online with 270 cups made by 110 artists. In addition, Good Earth Pottery is donating 5% of all cup sales in January to help feed their neighbors in need.

Beginning Again in the Studio…

It’s been quiet in the studio as of late, but that’s about to change. After a much needed respite I am clearing the decks for new work and new ideas. Slabs have been rolled out and I’m happily getting my fingers muddy as I begin the New Year refreshed and recharged!

New Blog Post:
Applying The Language of Flowers Onto Clay

I’ve always been drawn to florals - both growing and as an artistic subject. Discovering that there was a world of meaning of each individually or in a bouquet inspired me immensely. Read my latest blog post to learn more about the Language of Flowers and how it inspires my current work.

Art-Related Book on the Shelf…

New to the Newsletter this year is a recommendation of art-related books I’ve been reading. Some are inspirational, others informational, but all are interesting reads!

I thought I’d start off with Pulitzer Prize winning art critic Jerry Saltz’s book, How to Be an Artist. It’s not just for visual artists, but for anyone who creates. It’s a slim volume that is broken into short bits that cover many aspects of being a creator or even aspiring to be one. If you’ve ever faced doubt about your creative work, or just need a prodding to get going again after a break, I think you will enjoy this book.
Wishing you all the best in 2023!
Rebecca
